How long does the process take?
It depends on the session. For a Simplicity Session, you’ll typically receive your proofs within 1-2 weeks of our session, whereas for an Elegance Session, proof delivery will take up to 2-3 weeks, and an Extravagance session a little longer still at 4-6 weeks. After I’ve posted your session gallery, you’ll have 4-10 days (depending on your session type) to make your orders, and after you’ve placed your orders, it will take me 1-2 weeks to get your order together and shipped out to you, and an extra 2-4 weeks if you’ve purchased a custom designed product.
How much do your sessions cost?
I recommend reading my details and pricing pages for more details on this, but essentially, for all my session types, I charge a Creative Fee which only covers my time and talent. You must also purchase a Collection before you can buy anything A la Carte. These Collections are crafted to give you a variety of products at a great price.
Okay, so how much can I expect to spend?
Each session, and each person & family, is different and so it makes it difficult to answer this question succinctly. For all session types, you are required to purchase a Collection. Simplicity Collections start at $675, Elegant Collections start at $1,200, and Extravagant Collections at $3,000.
That seems like a lot.
Custom photography is an investment, and I believe that an investment in a custom photography session is a gift that you give not only to yourself, but to your children, your grandchildren and their children too. By investing in a custom photography session, you are creating heirlooms that your descendents will also cherish. Please read my philosophy for more insight, and check out this guide on custom photography as well.

Why do all of your collections include a 16×20? That just seems so huge!
All my collections include a 16×20 precisely because of the size. Most people don’t realize how great their images will look when blown up, and I want to make sure that you get a taste! Amy Ro explains better than I can why “Bigger IS Better”.
I have no idea how I want to display my artwork! Can you help?
All clients will receive a Wall Inspiration Guide upon booking to help them plan their wall displays before the session. After the session, all Elegance and Extravagance Clients have a redeemable gift credit if they meet with me at a local coffee shop to go over their proofs. I will bring samples and wall guides, and a proof book with all your images printed (not available without the in person ordering session), and we will see what we can come up with to really make your pieces shine.
I really want to help you actually use your photos in whatever way possible. It’s too easy to just order a bunch of 5x7s or 8x10s and never figure out what to do with them, and then forget about them. The way I see it, you’re paying for a custom photography session, so you should be able to see your images around your house as a constant reminder of the love that you and yours share!
Do you travel?
Why yes I do! I’ll go anywhere in Washington (though travel fees do apply), and I am also willing to travel to the Portland and Bay Areas for select projects. If you’re interested, contact me for details!
Do you shoot weddings?
I used to, but not any more. The main reason, honestly, are those pesky family photos that hardly anyone ever budgets enough time for. If I could be guaranteed 3-4 hours of camera time with the Bride, Groom & wedding party alone, and then only have to worry about the ceremony shots and reception candids at small (less than 150 people) weddings, I would probably do it. But for now, I’m much happier with portraiture and documentary style “day in the life” type work. All that said, I definitely, definitely, DEFINITELY still take on engagement, bridal, and trash the dress sessions!
When should I schedule my maternity session for?
Around month seven or eight is generally the best.
I don’t know when my baby is going to be born, how can I schedule a newborn session?
If you contact me with your estimated due date, I will block off time around your due date to be sure I can photograph your newborn within ten days of birth with no problems. Just remember, the sooner you contact me, the better!
Do you offer belly to baby or baby’s first year packages?
I do not. I recommend utilizing Simplicity Sessions to go with Elegance & Extravagance Sessions to achieve this, however. Also, 2011 Elegance & Extravagance clients are eligible for discounts on their Simplicity Sessions throughout 2011! (Additionally, 2011 Extravagance clients are eligible for discounts on Elegance sessions throughout 2011!)
